By voting against the reconciliation package, the party has also turned its back on the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act. The act saves US taxpayers $60 billion by simply taking loans out out of the hands of predatory banks. The savings are reinvested into educating American college students. If we had a responsible opposition, the vote on this would be unanimous. Sadly, we don't. There wasn't a single GOP vote in the House to back this measure, which saved American taxpayers $10 billion yet earned them $60 billion in benefits.
