right. like ben nelson isn't going to punk this one. this is kabuki theater.
after some more thought, two things occurred to me:
1. obama/reid generously threw lieberman a lifeline to enable him to rehab his image. doing so indicates joe's a needed foil, but they can't afford him to be so scarred and reprehensible that he's radioactive.
or
2. nobody else was willing to touch this hot potato.
Almost every move Lieberman has made so far may look pretty smart come 2012.
