"Why take half a loaf when you can have a quarter?"

The case for passing the Senate bill alongside reconciliation is now made.

At this point the only real point of disagreement among (most) progressives is whether reconciliation or a House vote on the Senate bill should come first.

I'm increasingly an agnostic on that point. Progressive activism may force the Senate into passing something under reconciliation. If that happens, it's to the good, even if it does take a while.

The risk, of course, is for the political climate to deteriorate further, causing Blue Dogs to desert any form of health care, causing the bill to die even once progressives get back on board. That would be an epic disaster.
